Incorporating Botox Into Your Beauty Routine

If you’re interested in trying Botox®, you’re not alone. From 2012 to 2017, the popularity of Botox and other injectables shot up 40.6%. From 2017 to 2018, the popularity of injectables rose another 5.1%. In total, over 1.5 million Botox treatments are performed every year. Botox is far and away the most popular non-invasive cosmetic enhancement available today.

Despite this popularity, Botox injections are still seen within the purview of the rich and famous. Like many cosmetic procedures, you may think that Botox treatments are too expensive or unattainable for regular people. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. As Botox has sky-rocketed in popularity, it has become even more affordable and attainable. You can easily incorporate Botox into your beauty routine and enjoy the benefits of this remarkable treatment for yourself.

Are you interested in using Botox to supercharge your beauty routine? Come see us at Lasercare Skin Clinic. Dr. Bruce Sanderson will work with you to determine if you’re a good candidate for treatments. Botox basics

Your facial muscles contract multiple times as you go about your day. You smile, raise your eyebrows when surprised, or squint to better see an object. As you age, these repeated movements build up and, when combined with skin sagging, form wrinkles and fine lines.

Botox is made from a highly purified toxin that partially blocks the nerve pathways that allow these muscles to move. Contrary to popular belief, your face will not be frozen — the toxin does not totally paralyze the muscles. But it will be more challenging to make those wrinkle-creating muscle motions.

Botox placement

The two most popular Botox injections sites are the “11” between the eyebrows and horizontal forehead lines. Botox also works well in the crow’s feet, which is the area on the outside of the eyes that crinkles when you smile. Botox can also be used to lift drooping lips, smooth out the neck, or in the tiny "smoker's lines" around the mouth.

Botox and dermal fillers

Many patients choose to use Botox in conjunction with dermal fillers. Although both are injectables, the two serve different purposes. Botox eliminates wrinkles caused by muscle contractions; fillers correct wrinkles caused by a loss of skin volume.

Botox and your beauty routine

Although done with a needle, Botox treatments are virtually painless. Most patients just need an ice pack to numb the injected area before and after treatment. When done by a professional like Dr. Sanderson, there is a very low risk of bruising or swelling.

When just starting Botox, you’ll see your wrinkle correction treatments last for three to four months. Once you’ve been receiving treatments n a regular basis and have reached an optimal level of wrinkle correction, you will need treatments less often.

The end result? You enjoy wrinkle-free skin with four or less trips to our practice per year. Botox is easy to incorporate into your beauty routine because it’s a simple, easy way to reduce the signs of aging.
